Ridgeland has something the rest of the metro does not: a great deal of water. If your property looks onto the Ross Barnett Reservoir, that changes which decking is the right answer.
What is different in Ridgeland
A deck backing onto the Ross Barnett gets the two things decking likes least at the same time: sustained moisture and unshaded sun bouncing off open water. Tree cover that protects an inland yard simply is not there.
This is the one situation where we will actively steer people toward capped polymer — the AZEK lines — over capped composite. PVC has no wood flour in it at all, so there is nothing in the board for moisture or mould to feed on, and it runs measurably cooler underfoot than a dark composite in full sun. On an inland lot that is a nice-to-have. On the water it is the difference between a deck you use and a deck you look at.
Colour matters more here too. Lighter boards run cooler, and reflected glare off the reservoir is unforgiving of a finish that was chosen indoors under showroom lighting. We will send samples home with you to sit in your own yard for a few days.
